Key Responsibilities- Investigate and evaluate commercial auto claims arising out of the Company's business.
- Determine the appropriate disposition of claims, including first and third-party claims that may be in litigation.
- Provide exceptional service to agents, insureds, and others while handling claims to their conclusion.
- Assemble facts, determine coverage, evaluate the amount of loss, and analyze legal liability.
- Make payments in accordance with coverage, damage, and liability determination.
- Perform other functions or duties to properly adjust the loss.
- Become familiar with the auto provisions of our commercial insurance policies, endorsements, and forms.
- Apply coverage analysis skills and learn and comply with the Company's claim handling procedures.
- Develop skills in claim negotiations and settlements.
- Effectively meet the service needs of agents, insureds, and others.
- Meet with people involved with commercial auto claims, sometimes outside of the office environment.
- Obtain and maintain appropriate adjuster's license(s) as required.
- Complete relevant continuing education programs as required.
- Handle claims activities and investigations by phone, mail, and occasional on-site investigations.
- Use computer-based information for reference; enter information into computer systems; develop specialized skills, including but not limited to property estimating, auto estimating, and use of computer-based programs as tools.
- Work closely with Underwriting to communicate issues potentially affecting policy rating or eligibility.
- Maintain punctual attendance according to an assigned work schedule at a Company-approved work location.
- Bachelor's degree or direct equivalent experience.
- Garage/dealership industry experience preferred.
- Ability to read, interpret, and react to documents such as contracts, insurance policies, procedure manuals, and legal documents.
- Ability to assemble information, develop opinions, and clearly express decisions using sound reasoning and judgment.
- Ability to write reports and compose correspondence.
- Ability to communicate, both oral and written formats, in a polite, clear, concise, and accurate way.
- Ability to demonstrate good problem-solving interpersonal skills.
- Ability to accurately deal with mathematics, including geometry (area and volume) and understanding of personal and business finance documents.
- Able to effectively deal with a diverse group of individuals and manage varied factual circumstances.
- Ability to organize assigned work.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and data security.
- Ability to maintain a professional image.
- Ability to demonstrate basic knowledge with insurance policy review and sound organization.
