Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Specialist to join our team at Headquarters, Air Force Reserve Command. As an IT Specialist, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance, training, and support to customers, as well as assisting in the operation and maintenance of the installation's computer network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in administering the base local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) for the installation.
  • Assist in planning, testing, and configuring base network systems.
  • Analyze and resolve problems and trends.
  • Provide customer support, assistance, training, and orientation.
Requirements

To be eligible for this position, you must meet the requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Individual Occupational Requirements for the Information Technology (IT) Management Series, GS-2210 (Alternate A).

You must have a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management, or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.

Alternatively, you must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving, and one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07 (or equivalent in other pay systems) which includes applying LAN/WAN and system principles/practices sufficient to install, configure, and troubleshoot components.

Knowledge of basic LAN/WAN and system principles and practices sufficient to install, configure, and troubleshoot components is also required.

You must be able to analyze routine network problems and recommend solutions, and communicate factual and procedural information clearly, both orally and in writing.
