Position Overview

Role Summary

The Materials Planning Engineer is responsible for overseeing the logistics of materials and returns throughout the production process. This role entails assessing the necessary materials to fulfill production requirements, creating specifications for new contracts, evaluating vendor reliability, and identifying new supply sources when existing vendors fall short. The position requires effective inventory management and adherence to company policies while operating with minimal supervision.

The role also involves ensuring compliance with internal and external standards, such as GLP, GMP, and ISO. Tasks are generally straightforward, relying on established guidelines and immediate supervision.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Organizing and scheduling workflows across departments based on established manufacturing timelines. Adjusting production schedules in response to design modifications, labor shortages, or material delays, in collaboration with management and engineering teams. Accelerating operations that may hinder schedules and modifying timelines to accommodate unexpected circumstances. Maintaining accurate records of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and related documentation. Ensuring timely delivery of commodities at negotiated prices while meeting the company's quality standards. Conducting quality assurance reviews of production documentation to ensure compliance with good documentation practices. Evaluating purchased products and providing recommendations regarding vendor relationships. Supporting the calibration program to ensure compliance with ISO 17025 and customer specifications. Assisting in document control and configuration management processes. Administering the Quality Management System (QMS) training program. Communicating significant quality-related issues or developments to management. Keeping abreast of relevant government and industry quality codes and standards. Availability for work during evenings and weekends as necessary to meet objectives.

Supervisory Role

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of two years of relevant experience. Experience in a regulated environment is preferred.

Skills and Abilities

Attention to detail is essential. Familiarity with ISO and/or AS9100 standards is advantageous.

Additional Requirements

Active security clearance may be preferred. Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
