Position Overview:
This is a Full-Time Clinical Fellowship opportunity for a Speech-Language Pathologist in a skilled nursing facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations and provide therapeutic interventions for individuals across the lifespan facing communication and swallowing challenges.
  • Oversee and manage programs aimed at enhancing human communication and addressing related disorders.
  • Provide guidance and support to patients, their families, and caregivers regarding communication disorders and effective management strategies.

Physical Requirements:
Strong communication and auditory skills are essential for the assessment and treatment of speech and language disorders.

Special Qualifications:
  • A genuine passion for working with individuals experiencing temporary or chronic disabilities.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology to facilitate communication with healthcare professionals.
  • Experience with video fluoroscopic evaluations and dysphagia therapy is preferred.
  • Ability to engage with patients of all ages, from infants to seniors.

Educational Requirements:
A Master's or Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology, along with the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and a valid state license.

Additional Information:
Completion of a clinical fellowship year is preferred, with supervision available from a qualified speech pathologist. COVID vaccination is encouraged, though exemptions will be considered.

Work Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Clinical Director, the Speech-Language Pathologist will provide treatment based on a licensed physician's prescription.

Major Duties Include:
  • Screening, assessing, diagnosing, and rehabilitating speech and language disorders, including articulation, fluency, and voice issues.
  • Evaluating and addressing oropharyngeal function disorders, particularly dysphagia.
  • Identifying and treating cognitive-communication disorders.
  • Developing and implementing augmentative and alternative communication systems, along with training for their effective use.
  • Assisting with departmental record-keeping and billing processes.
  • Participating in discharge planning for treatment programs.
  • Documenting evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries for all patients.
  • Conducting in-service training for staff and nursing on relevant topics as needed.
