Role Overview: The Healthcare Support Specialist performs a range of patient care and administrative tasks under the guidance of a licensed Health Care Provider (physician, APP, or RN designee) in an outpatient environment, adhering to established policies and procedures to enhance patient health and wellness.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitates effective and efficient operations while ensuring clear and accurate communication with team members, healthcare providers, and patients.
  • Assists in gathering data related to the physical, psychological, social, and cultural aspects of patients in line with professional standards and institutional policies.
  • Organizes and prioritizes daily tasks to meet patient needs, support the interdisciplinary team, and optimize operational efficiency.
  • Ensures a safe environment and the secure delivery of care.
  • Performs various administrative duties.
  • Maintains necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Exhibits teamwork in delivering patient care and recognizes the significance of time-sensitive matters.
  • Supports patient and family education plans based on identified health needs and the patient's condition and age, utilizing approved educational materials or written instructions.
  • Assists patients with care as necessary to promote optimal health.
  • Provides clinical assistance to licensed healthcare professionals during examinations and procedures.
  • Demonstrates commitment to professional development for oneself and others in accordance with departmental policies.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Compensation: Position Compensation Range: $23.82 Hourly

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • Experience: No prior experience required
  • Licensure: American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS Certification is mandatory.

Eligibility Criteria: Candidates must meet ONE of the following requirements:
  • Certified to practice as a Nurse Aide in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Successful completion of a nationally recognized and accredited PCT Certification exam (e.g., National Healthcareer Association - C-PCT)
  • Currently enrolled nursing students who have completed the Medical/Surgical Clinical Experience and Didactic
  • EMT certification
  • Graduates of an accredited nursing program

Physical Requirements: The role involves frequent bending/stooping and driving (for Home Health Aide only). Proficient communication, auditory, and visual skills are essential; attention to detail and legible writing are required. Ability to lift/push/pull over 100 lbs (for Home Health Aide only). Exposure to chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious diseases may occur.
