Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Child Life Specialist to join our team at Northwell Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing emotional support and coping strategies to children and their families in a hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in routine psychosocial activities with children and their families to provide emotional support and identify opportunities to recommend and implement approved coping strategies.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate psychosocial programs fostering emotional, developmental, intellectual, and physical growth of children in a hospital environment and outpatient setting.
  • Orient other hospital staff on the psychosocial needs of children and their families and foster positive hospital community relations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Child Life, Child Development, Psychology, Sociology, or other Psychosocial-related field.
  • Completion of a Child Life Internship with a minimum of 600 hours under the supervision of a Certified Child Life Specialist.
  • Child Life Certification required within 12 months of hire.
