Job Description

The Mary Campbell Center is a homelike environment where residents live with respect, personal dignity, and independence. As a C&Y Program Assistant, you will work with the C&Y Program Manager, Coordinator, and Specialist to implement programs and activities that encourage social interaction and independence for children of varying ages and developmental abilities.


Main Responsibilities:



  • Assist in planning and implementing activities that promote recreational and social development for children with disabilities.
  • Lead program activities and provide supervision to children in the program.
  • Provide support to volunteers assisting with program activities.
  • Follow Center and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the training of new staff.
  • Perform personal care duties and meal assistance safely and efficiently to ensure good hygiene of the children.
  • Adhere to weekly program schedules and activities.
  • Perform daily setup and cleanup of activities as needed.
  • Assist participants in the pool during free swim and lessons.
  • Encourage independence and self-confidence for children within the program.
  • Maintain open communication with the Children & Youth Program Manager, Coordinator, and Specialist regarding the status of participants and program.
  • Complete all mandatory in-services and attend staff meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:



  • Be a good person of high character who consistently works with a positive attitude and demonstrates compassion and understanding for program participants.
  • Be willing to plan and implement activities for children and youth with developmental disabilities.
  • Have excellent leadership, communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to interact positively with children, families, and all levels of personnel.
  • Have the ability to lift and transfer children up to adult weight and utilize safe lifting procedures.
  • Be willing to swim and assist participants in the pool.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as a team player.
  • Have or be willing to obtain CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
