Position Overview:
As a vital member of the Adventist HealthCare team, the Patient Services Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional service within our outpatient imaging department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcome and assist patients with appointments, tests, and inquiries, utilizing strong interpersonal skills and effective communication techniques.
  • Manage patient scheduling and test procedures through a computerized system, ensuring accurate appointment notices and providing necessary instructions for patient preparation.
  • Collect and verify patient demographic, financial, and insurance details, ensuring all information is accurately recorded.
  • Conduct pre-registration activities to gather essential information, assess insurance coverage, and confirm appointments.
  • Maintain accurate patient appointment records and histories, ensuring data integrity.
  • Advise patients on outstanding balances and anticipated service costs prior to scheduling further appointments.
  • Process payments during appointments, issue receipts, and maintain financial records.
  • Prepare necessary forms and reminder cards to facilitate patient interactions and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to enhance patient experiences and fulfill departmental responsibilities.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding departmental services and provide information on procedures and regulations.
  • Review and distribute daily scheduling reports and balance cash receipts.
  • Ensure all charges are accurately entered for each appointment.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required; a two-year college degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of customer service experience is essential.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in patient scheduling, is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in computerized patient scheduling systems is necessary.
  • Understanding of medical insurance and terminology is required.
  • Typing speed of at least 30 words per minute is necessary.
  • Familiarity with IDX patient scheduling and registration systems is a plus.
  • Two years of office management experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.

Work Schedule:
This position operates Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. A valid driver's license is required.
