About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Maritime Briefing and Correspondence Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to work with the Department for Transport and contribute to the success of our maritime and marine sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality briefing and correspondence services to Ministers and support policy officials across the directorate.
  • Support ministerial visits and events, working closely with communications teams and other stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the stakeholder manager to ensure that external engagement is supporting delivery of maritime priorities.
  • Manage and attend high-profile events, including the London International Shipping week event.
Requirements
  • Strong drafting skills with the ability to write concisely and compellingly for different audiences.
  • Ability to distil technical information into plain English for briefings and other communications.
  • Experience in securing inputs from others across a range of stakeholders, who are often managing conflicting demands.
  • Experience of drafting high-quality written material, including letters to stakeholders and briefing packs for parliamentary debates.

  • Someone who can build strong and productive relationships with senior colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing complex policy areas and distilling technical information into plain English.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively prioritize tasks.
