Job Description

The Director of Alumni Relations is a key position at National Louis University, responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive alumni engagement and communications strategy. This strategy aims to foster and strengthen relationships between the University and its broad alumni community.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in higher education alumni relations, fundraising, volunteer management, and/or association management. They will be responsible for managing and staffing the NLU Alumni Association Board and committees, developing strong relationships with volunteer leaders, and overseeing the production and dissemination of compelling and engaging alumni communications.

The Director will also be responsible for planning and implementing strategies, programs, and events for alumni relations, including networking events, panel discussions, alumni-to-student mentoring, alumni awards, and reunion events. They will make budgetary recommendations and manage budget(s), ensuring coordination and alignment with Institutional Advancement colleagues and other colleagues across the institution.

The successful candidate will have excellent communications skills, be proficient in Office Suite and CRMs, and have the ability to work on multiple concurrent projects and connect with a wide variety of people, including staff, faculty, volunteers, and alumni.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive alumni engagement and communications strategy
  • Manage and staff the NLU Alumni Association Board and committees
  • Oversee the production and dissemination of compelling and engaging alumni communications
  • Plan and implement strategies, programs, and events for alumni relations
  • Make budgetary recommendations and manage budget(s)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in Non-Profit Management, Higher Education, Communications, Marketing, or other related field
  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience, with a preference for higher education alumni relations, fundraising, volunteer management, and/or association management
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Proficient in Office Suite and CRMs
