Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). As a critical care nurse, you will play a pivotal role in providing high-quality patient care to individuals with complex, life-threatening conditions. Your expertise in acute care nursing will be instrumental in delivering compassionate and high-quality care in our ICU.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to establish patient care needs in the ICU
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor their effects on the patient
  • Perform advanced medical procedures as necessary, such as intubation, central line placement, and hemodynamic monitoring
  • Monitor patient progress and respond to any changes in status, acting quickly to address complications
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and adjust individualized care plans
  • Operate and monitor life support equipment and other medical devices
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting all care provided and significant observations
  • Educate patients and their families on the patient's condition, treatment plan, and recovery process
  • Ensure strict adherence to ICU and hospital protocols and practices to maintain patient safety and quality of care
  • Participate in rounds and communicate with the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care
  • Provide emotional support to patients and their families during the critical care experience
  • Supervise and mentor junior nursing staff and nursing students
  • Engage in continuous professional development to keep up with advancements in critical care nursing practices
  • Implement infection control measures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases within the ICU
  • Ensure proper handling and disposal of medical waste and sharps to maintain a safe environment

Requirements

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Wyoming
  • BSN or MSN degree from an accredited nursing program
  • Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification may be required for certain positions
  • Critical care certification (CCRN) is preferred but not required
  • Ability to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong clinical skills with a focus on patient safety and quality of care
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Physical stamina to perform the duties of the position, including lifting patients and standing for long periods
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to continuing education and professional development
