JOB SUMMARY


The Cardiac Catheterization Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering direct patient care to individuals undergoing cardiac procedures, maintaining continuous communication with physicians to ensure patient safety throughout the process.

Collaborating with Cardiology Service Leaders and Providers, the Cardiac Catheterization RN


assesses, plans, implements, and coordinates with various departments to uphold exceptional patient and family care, in alignment with CCH's mission, vision, and values.

This role involves the integration of departmental objectives for enhancement across the care continuum, as well as the coordination and delegation of unit and patient care activities to other healthcare professionals as appropriate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


Delivers intensive, direct patient care to those in the Cardiac Catheterization lab, fulfilling roles in moderate sedation, circulating, and monitoring.

Conducts thorough patient assessments and accurately documents findings in patient records.


Develops age-appropriate care plans that address physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs, collaborating with other healthcare team members.

Implements care plans, delegates tasks appropriately, and ensures comprehensive documentation of interventions.

Evaluates progress towards desired outcomes, revises care plans as necessary, and intervenes promptly when required.

Educates patients and families about current health status, care plans, and expected outcomes.

Ensures service excellence for all customers.

Exhibits effective time management and prioritization skills.

Maintains professional standards in clinical practice, staffing, and ongoing education.

Practices fiscal responsibility and accountability.

Actively engages in hospital committees, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) teams, and Quality Improvement Programs.

Maintains a clean and safe environment.

May be required to assist in other nursing units based on staff and patient distribution.

Thoroughly assesses and reassesses pain, responding swiftly to changes in patient status.

Communicates effectively with physicians, patients, and other Cardiac Cath lab staff regarding patient conditions (e.g., hemodynamics, cardiovascular, and neurological status).

Manages cardiac cath lab supplies and inventory.

Assists in the recording, storage, retrieval, and analysis of data obtained during cardiovascular procedures.

Will monitor, scrub, and/or circulate during Cath lab procedures.

Functions independently within the designated department.


Adheres to the hospital's Corporate Compliance Program, including but not limited to the Code of Conduct, applicable laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.

Must be free from governmental sanctions related to healthcare and/or financial practices.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education

Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Licensure

Current Wyoming RN license.

Experience

Minimum of 2 years of experience in Cath lab, ICU, or PACU nursing preferred.

Certifications required

Refer to Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification Policy and Certifications/Education Requirements Policy.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to maintain continuing education requirements and uphold all necessary certifications and licenses (e.g., ACLS, PALS, CPI, CPR). The RN practices within the framework of the Wyoming Nurse Practice Act and adheres to the professional standards set by the American Nurses Association.

Licensed professionals must strictly follow the ethical guidelines of their respective disciplines.


Must be capable of assessing a patient's condition, developing a care plan, selecting appropriate interventions, and evaluating patient responses to care/treatment while educating patients about their condition and recovery.

Ability to manage emergency high-stress situations during critical procedures.

Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously amidst frequent interruptions and under stressful conditions.

Strong analytical and reasoning skills with a high level of mental concentration and memory.


Ability to communicate clearly and foster positive interactions with patients, their families, physicians, and staff to effectively provide patient care.


Ability to demonstrate knowledge of developmental stages and apply relevant theories/concepts when planning and implementing care for patients of varying ages.
