Position Overview:
The Registered Nurse delivers comprehensive nursing care that necessitates specialized expertise, judgment, and skills rooted in biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences.Key Responsibilities:
1. Evaluates, plans, implements, and oversees nursing care with an emphasis on family-centered approaches for individual or groups of patients within the designated scope of practice.
2. Exhibits the knowledge and competencies essential for addressing the physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety requirements of patients across all ages and developmental stages.
3. Undertakes leadership and professional responsibilities.
4. Engages in patient-centered care activities.
5. Contributes to quality improvement and safety initiatives.
6. Participates in the educational development of staff members concerning clinically relevant topics. May mentor new hires and provide guidance to clinical staff.
7. Engages in evidence-based practice initiatives.
8. Collaborates with provider staff to enhance operational efficiency and ensure quality care, delivering exceptional service to pediatric patients through a team-oriented approach.
9. Engages in systems-based practice activities.
10. Involves in informatics and technology-related tasks.
11. Staff may be temporarily reassigned within the Akron Children's Hospital network based on patient care needs requiring similar expertise.
12. Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Technical Skills
1. Proven ability to lead, guide, and inspire fellow staff members, emphasizing teamwork to deliver high-quality service to patients and their families.
2. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
3. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are necessary.
4. Strong organizational abilities are required.
5. Capability to perform effectively under pressure while prioritizing and completing tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
6. Experience interacting with various organizational levels is necessary.
7. Background in healthcare is preferred.
8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.
9. Familiarity with electronic medical record systems (e.g., EPIC) or similar software is preferred.
Education and Experience Requirements
1. Education: A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required or must be obtained within five years from the date of hire.
2. Current certification in Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association is required. Additional certifications may be necessary based on the assigned department or unit.
3. Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Ohio.
4. Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience is preferred.
5. No supervisory experience is required.
