POSITION OVERVIEW
The Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering direct patient care to individuals undergoing cardiac procedures. This role requires continuous communication with physicians to ensure patient safety throughout various interventions. Collaborating closely with Cardiology Service Leaders and Providers, the RN will assess, plan, implement, and coordinate care in conjunction with other departments, ensuring alignment with CCH's mission, vision, and values. The Registered Nurse will also integrate departmental objectives for improvement across the entire care continuum. This position involves coordinating and delegating patient care activities to other healthcare professionals as appropriate.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver intensive, direct patient care to populations in the Cardiac Catheterization lab, fulfilling roles such as moderate sedation, circulating, and monitoring.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and maintain accurate documentation in patient records.
- Develop age-appropriate care plans addressing physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Implement care plans, delegate tasks effectively, and ensure proper documentation of interventions.
- Evaluate progress towards desired outcomes, adjust care plans as necessary, and intervene when required.
- Educate patients and families about health status, care plans, and expected outcomes.
- Provide exceptional service to all customers.
- Exhibit proficient time management and prioritization skills.
- Uphold professional standards related to clinical practice, staffing, and ongoing education.
- Practice fiscal responsibility and accountability.
- Actively engage in hospital committees, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) teams, and Quality Improvement Programs.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
- May be required to assist in other nursing units based on staff and patient distribution.
- Assess and reassess pain effectively, responding promptly to changes in patient status.
- Communicate clearly and efficiently with physicians, patients, and other staff regarding patient conditions.
- Manage cardiac cath lab supplies and inventory.
- Assist in the recording, storage, retrieval, and analysis of data from cardiovascular procedures.
- Monitor, scrub, and/or circulate during Cath lab procedures.
- Function independently within the designated department.
- Adhere to the hospital's Corporate Compliance Program, including the Code of Conduct, laws, regulations, and hospital policies.
- Must be free from governmental sanctions related to healthcare and financial practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned; this list is not exhaustive.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Licensure: Valid Wyoming RN license.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Cath lab, ICU, or PACU nursing preferred.
- Certifications: Must meet Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification Policy and Certifications/Education Requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to maintain continuing education and all required certifications and licenses (e.g., ACLS, PALS, CPI, CPR). The RN practices within the framework of the Wyoming Nurse Practice Act and American Nurses Association standards.
- Licensed professionals must adhere strictly to the ethical codes of their respective disciplines.
- Capability to assess patient conditions, formulate care plans, select appropriate interventions, and evaluate patient responses to care.
- Ability to manage emergency situations during high-risk procedures.
- Skill in performing multiple tasks simultaneously under stressful conditions.
- Strong analytical and reasoning skills with high mental concentration and memory.
- Effective communication skills to foster positive interactions with patients, families, physicians, and staff.
- Demonstrated knowledge of developmental stages and application of relevant theories when planning and implementing care.
- Must maintain current knowledge and skills across various age groups, including:
- Infant (Neonate to Age 1)
- Pediatric (Age 1-11)
- Adolescent
- Adult
- Geriatric (Age 65 and older)
