Job Summary

North Suffolk Community Services Inc. is seeking a skilled Recovery Coach to join our Recovery Support Services team in a hospital setting.

The ideal candidate will have lived experience with addiction and a strong understanding of the addiction treatment service system, recovery coaching, and related human services.

This is a full-time position requiring 36 hours of work per week, with some evening shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide educational supports and recovery coaching to individuals in the hospital setting.
  • Assist the Emergency Department, Med Surge, and Inpatient teams with brief interventions to engage individuals in treatment.
  • Communicate with the hospital team to develop a recommendation for appropriate level of care and advocate for patients.
  • Implement, teach, and assist individuals with their individual action plans or wellness plans.
  • Facilitate access to treatment and recovery-oriented systems of care and provide linkages to community resources.
  • Participate in the upkeep and maintenance of the program, including completing documentation in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a field other than behavioral sciences or high school degree/GED.
  • Experience: Work experience with adults diagnosed with substance use and/or dependency, including lived experience and knowledge of the addiction treatment service system.
  • Knowledge: Two years of acknowledged continuous sobriety and CARC certification.
