Food Runner Job Description

A food runner is a vital member of the Arlo Hotel DC team, responsible for delivering food and drinks to customers' tables in a timely and efficient manner. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Food Delivery: Carry food from the kitchen to tables, ensuring it is delivered quickly and accurately.
  • Communication: Communicate with waitstaff to understand their needs and relay special requests to the kitchen.
  • Cleanliness: Maintain the expo line clean and wash trays and tray stands.
  • Organization: Organize order tickets and track cooking times.
  • Customer Service: Check on customers to ensure they are enjoying their meals and address any issues or requests.
  • Setup and Maintenance: Set tables and ensure tableware, napkins, glasses, and utensils are placed appropriately.
  • Food Knowledge: Explain specials, drinks, and meals to customers and make recommendations.
  • Sanitation and Safety: Follow sanitation and food health safety rules and regulations.
  • Flexibility: Be flexible to schedule changes.

A successful food runner must be able to multitask, work well under pressure, and remain calm and professional. They should also be physically able to carry heavy trays and stand for long hours.
