Job Summary:

The Colville Tribes is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Assistant Cook to join our team. As an Assistant Cook, you will assist the senior center head cook with the planning, preparation, and serving of nutritionally balanced meals to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with menu planning, food purchases, and maintaining sanitary conditions at the senior center.
  • Provide assistance with food preparation, cooking, and serving of meals in a congregate setting and delivered to clients at their homes.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, and other program or agency staff.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate records and reports related to food service operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required; GED or willing to obtain within a specified period of time.
  • Two years of successful paid work experience with elderly/senior citizens required.
  • Physical fitness clearance by medical doctor's examination required; must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Food Handlers permit, First Aid, and CPR card within the 90-day probationary period.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of food preparation and serving a variety of food in quantity amounts.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Ability to work independently and follow line of authority.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective/cooperative working relationships with others.

Working Conditions:

The Assistant Cook will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment with frequent exposure to heat, steam, and noise. The position requires standing for long periods, lifting, bending, and carrying heavy objects.
