About the Role

Schwan's, a leading U.S. manufacturer and marketer of quality foods, is seeking a skilled Distribution Supervisor to manage the distribution of goods within cold, cooler, and dry storage facilities. This East Coast-based 90% remote position is responsible for ensuring maximum efficiency, quality, and customer service in the most cost-efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide remote distribution and warehouse operations management, analyzing business objectives and executing operational short- and long-term strategy.
  • Manage inventory levels to ensure adequate supply of products, proper pick sequencing, accuracy of records, and timeliness of orders.
  • Minimize finished goods waste by ensuring proper product rotation and coordinating with other area leaders to develop a plan to sell at-risk inventory.
  • Plan and coordinate with transportation operations, including the supervision of loading/unloading of trucks, to ensure products meet freshness, packaging, and food safety standards.
  • Enforce safety guidelines and rules, GMPS, HACCP checks, food safety and security requirements, as well as all company policies and government regulations.
  • Ensure all materials are stored in accordance with temperature requirements and food safety standards.
  • Request or oversee maintenance on facilities and equipment.
  • Enforce contract standards for all assigned vendors/third-party logistics.
  • Supervise, train, and develop subordinates (if applicable), overseeing the day-to-day management of third-party logistics provider employees (if applicable).
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of experience, ideally with at least one year of supervision.
  • Education: High School diploma.
  • Food experience within a warehouse or distribution center setting is a big plus.
  • General knowledge of Purchasing, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Inventory Record Accuracy, Cycle Counting Procedures, Inventory Control Procedures, Food Safety Requirements, Warehousing and Distribution.
  • Knowledgeable in the maintenance of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
  • Knowledgeable in truck loading operations, yard operations, and reefer unit trailers.
  • Strong supervisory skills.
  • Intermediate PC skills with experience in SAP and word processing programs.
  • Good math and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Able and willing to travel to other facilities as needed.
