As an Accounting Senior Manager, you will showcase your skills as a strategic leader and systems thinker, propelling our financial operations to unprecedented levels while simultaneously nurturing and advancing the team's competencies and expertise.

This pivotal role will provide consultation and technical guidance for Premera Blue Cross and its subsidiaries, a collective valued at $5 billion.

This is a crucial position, and we seek an individual with the leadership acumen and foresight to help define the future of accounting at Premera.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide strategic insights and guidance to the organization:

Act as a principal advisor and subject matter expert within the company on a wide array of complex technical accounting and financial reporting issues.

Engage extensively with stakeholders across the organization to support and influence the execution of Premera's strategic goals.
Utilize your expertise in accounting and health plan knowledge to drive change and process enhancements.

Deliver financial management and accounting expertise:

Oversee and ensure financial precision for critical components of the company's accounting functions, including billing, general ledger, cost accounting, fixed assets accounting, consolidation, and revenue recognition.

Provide timely and accurate financial reporting, including the completion of month-end close processes and reconciliations, ensuring precise data management and expedited decision-making.

Investigate and propose solutions for GAAP, statutory accounting transactions, and reporting obligations.

Enhance operational efficiency and ensure compliance:
Proactively assess opportunities to drive efficiencies and effectiveness in accounting and operational processes/systems and the accounting close procedure.
Recommend, develop, and maintain financial databases and software systems that support accounting functions.
Document and refine business processes and accounting policies to uphold and strengthen internal controls.
Leverage and maximize Workday capabilities, identifying avenues for process improvement, automation enhancements, and efficiencies.

Lead and cultivate a high-performing team:
Build a resilient team capable of navigating and thriving in a continuously evolving improvement environment.
Mentor and develop your team, fostering a culture of learning and professional advancement.
Enhance the technical expertise of the accounting division, developing individuals as subject matter experts in their respective domains.
Establish the vision for the team, setting measurable goals that align with the execution and success of company strategies.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. (Required)
A minimum of twelve years of financial reporting and accounting experience or a CPA with seven years of reporting and accounting experience. (Required)
At least seven years of experience in team leadership. (Required)
Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience in researching technical accounting issues, including familiarity with areas such as Revenue Recognition, Capitalization of Internally Developed Software, and Intercompany consolidations. (Required)

Preferred Skills/Experiences:
Experience managing an accounting team within a health plan or insurance organization.
Multi-company general ledger and consolidation experience along with broad knowledge of general accounting functions including GL, AP, AR, and account reconciliations.
Public accounting experience.
Familiarity with Workday or similar applications.
MBA/CMA/CIA and other Accounting/Finance Certifications.

The compensation for this role will vary based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's geographic location, market conditions, and specific skills and experience.


National Salary Range:
$112,000 - $191,900.00

National Plus Salary Range:
$128,000 - $218,800.00
*National Plus salary range applies in higher cost of labor markets.
