General:

M.C. Dean, Inc. Maritime Division is seeking a skilled Ship/Submarine Engineering Technician 6 to join our Alteration Installation Teams. As a key member of our team, you will support C4ISR system installations on ships and submarines at our regional offices in Chesapeake, VA, and San Diego, CA.

Requirements:

Minimum Education:

  • Completion of a formal two-year or more contractor apprenticeship program in a related field, including at least six months of formal classroom training in electrical circuit theory, electromagnetic radiation, and other disciplines related to C4ISR installations.
  • Completion of four (4) years of U.S. military service with a technical rating in Electronic Technician, Interior Communications, Information System Technician, Radioman, or Data System Technician.
  • An Associate's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or Information Technology.

Experience:

At least sixteen (16) years of experience as an installer/technical expert with at least ten (10) years of experience working on Afloat C4ISR installations with the U.S. Navy.

Skills and Proficiencies:

  • Lead a crew of installers in completing single-site installations.
  • Brief site personnel on installation status and future plans.
  • Understand and correctly red-line as-built drawings.
  • Locate and correct installation errors, such as standard violations and incorrect wiring.
  • Work as a Senior Installer supporting cabling, equipment, and device installations.
  • Demonstrate skill in operating installation hand tools and test equipment.
  • Demonstrate advanced speed and accuracy in tasks such as attaching fiber optic connectors, RJ-45 connectors, and DB type connectors, and dressing cable installations.
  • Have superior skills in complex mechanical, sub-assembly, rack, and chassis assembly.
  • Have superior leadership abilities.
  • Consistently demonstrate superior workmanship in a mission-critical environment.

Safety and Physical Requirements:

Hold or obtain the following certifications:

  • Occupation Safety Haz-Mat
  • Shipyard Competent Person
  • Aloft/Climbing/Shipyard Stairs and Ladders
  • Working in Confined Spaces
  • Training and the Ability to Safely Lift and Move Objects of 50 LBS
  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation

Security and Work Locations:

Work primarily in San Diego, CA, and Norfolk, VA, with possible travel to other shipyards in the USA and Navy ports outside the USA.

Other Responsibilities:

Work overtime upon management request, maintain and safeguard company equipment and tools, maintain and safeguard inventory, and organize and schedule jobs for on-time completion.

Physical Requirements:

Lift at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period, relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance, work at various heights up to 60 feet, and climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.
