Position Overview: The Quality Control Director will manage all facets of Incoming Quality Assurance and Final Product Quality Assurance. This role is essential in guaranteeing that all offerings adhere to the utmost quality benchmarks while enhancing processes to maximize efficiency. A robust engineering foundation paired with outstanding personnel management abilities is required for this position. The Quality Control Director will guide a team of 15-20 professionals and report directly to the Quality Executive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Management:
  • Oversee and coach a team of 15-20 quality assurance personnel, including inspectors and technicians.
  • Encourage a culture of ongoing improvement and responsibility within the team.
  • Design and execute training initiatives to elevate the competencies of the quality assurance team.
  • Conduct performance assessments, establish objectives, and provide ongoing feedback to team members.
  • Quality Assurance Operations:
  • Manage Incoming Quality Assurance (IQA) to confirm that raw materials and components meet defined criteria.
  • Supervise Final Product Quality Assurance (FPQA) processes to ensure that end products comply with quality and safety regulations.
  • Formulate, implement, and enhance quality assurance protocols to boost efficiency and precision.
  • Process Enhancement:
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to refine quality assurance processes.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and enact changes to elevate efficiency while sustaining or improving product quality.
  • Employ data-driven strategies to track and evaluate quality metrics, recognizing trends and proactively addressing potential challenges.
  • Compliance & Documentation:
  • Guarantee that all quality assurance activities align with industry regulations and corporate standards.
  • Maintain precise and current documentation related to quality assurance processes, inspections, and audits.
  • Prepare and deliver quality reports to upper management and engage in quality audits as necessary.
  • Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement:
  • Lead root cause investigations and corrective action initiatives for quality concerns.
  • Promote continuous improvement projects within the quality assurance department, utilizing lean manufacturing principles and other methodologies.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging trends in quality management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Quality, Mechanical, Industrial, or a related discipline).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and developing teams in a manufacturing or production context.
  • Strong grasp of quality assurance processes, methodologies, and tools (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing).
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities with a data-oriented approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to lead and inspire a team.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and standards (e.g., ISO, FDA).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in quality management (e.g., CQE, CQM, Six Sigma).
  • Experience in the medical device manufacturing sector or a similarly regulated field.
