Position Summary:

The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee product quality and conduct testing related to quality assurance. This position plays a vital role in developing, implementing, and assessing programs aimed at ensuring a high-quality product and preventing defects from reaching customers. The Quality Control Supervisor will actively promote daily quality inspection activities to enhance quality across all operations at Midland Garage Door.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain a comprehensive database of historical quality issues and corrective measures.
  2. Provide daily support for manufacturing-related challenges, resolutions, and corrective actions.
  3. Enhance and monitor tracking systems for internal quality issues and their resolutions.
  4. Evaluate the manufacturing capacity and quality processes of suppliers to ensure they meet production requirements.
  5. Facilitate the approval process for new parts from suppliers.
  6. Assist in the creation and communication of standard operating procedures for production.
  7. Lead root cause analysis initiatives to identify solutions for ongoing quality issues.
  8. Conduct quality control meetings to foster a culture centered on quality.
  9. Perform inspections of incoming parts as necessary.
  10. Calibrate small hand tools and measuring instruments, collaborating with third parties for high-level calibrations.
  11. Verify that certifications of incoming materials comply with specifications.
  12. Conduct product testing to ensure reliability and compliance.
  13. Support and identify opportunities for continuous improvement projects.
  14. Guide the efforts of the Quality Control team towards optimal performance.
  15. Approve time and attendance for Quality Control team members.
  16. Conduct wind load testing for garage doors to ensure code compliance.

Additional Duties:
  1. Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Required Competencies:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities to build trust and relationships with factory personnel.
  • High integrity, a strong work ethic, and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office; ERP experience is a plus.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and follow-through capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the development and training of all Quality Control employees.
  • Model the values of Quality, Service, and Integrity, ensuring that all team members embody these principles.
  • Screen applicants to align with the company’s values during the hiring process and develop onboarding plans for new hires.
  • Coach and motivate employees to help them reach their full potential.
  • Conduct both informal and formal performance reviews with Quality Control staff.
  • Establish programs to monitor quality assurance standards and hold employees accountable for meeting these standards.
  • Set clear expectations for Quality Control performance and enforce accountability.
  • Foster a culture of leadership development by identifying potential leaders and creating action plans for their growth.

Education and Experience:

A high school diploma and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience to effectively fulfill the essential responsibilities and duties outlined above.
