About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Scheduling Specialist to join our team at Houston Methodist Hospital. In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and scheduling services to ensure timely and accurate appointments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule patients for complex services such as surgery and special procedures on a routine basis
  • Act as a liaison between patients, facilities, and physicians to ensure exams, tests, and procedures are scheduled accurately and in a timely manner
  • Provide pre-registration services and enter demographic and insurance information into the EHR system
  • Respond promptly to requests from staff, patients, and physicians, rescheduling and/or canceling appointments as needed
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure strong communication, ease of access to information, and a seamless patient experience

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent education required
  • Four years of experience in a medical setting or call center environment, including two years of medical scheduling experience
  • Ability to multitask and flexibility to meet the needs of patients, physicians, and department
  • Knowledge of mid-level registration/access functions and insurance procedures
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations with patience and understanding
