Duke Primary Care offers family, adolescent, and internal medicine services, as well as urgent, general pediatric, and virtual care at nearly 50 clinic locations across central North Carolina.
Role SummaryThe Certified Medical Assistant will provide clinical support to the healthcare team, including taking medical histories, recording vital signs, and explaining medical procedures to patients. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical procedures and techniques, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical support to the healthcare team, including taking medical histories, recording vital signs, and explaining medical procedures to patients
- Assist with routine medical procedures, such as preparing patients for examinations and procedures, collecting and preparing laboratory specimens, and performing basic laboratory tests
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical histories, test results, and treatment plans
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, including physicians, nurses, and other support staff
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures
- Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA required
- BLS certification required
- Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES strongly preferred
- 1-3 years of clinical experience as a medical assistant in a clinical setting
