Medical Support Associate Job Description

This position plays a vital role in providing care and support to patients in a hospital, clinic, or home healthcare setting. Working under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or physician, you will assist with routine examinations and procedures, procurement of equipment and supplies during emergency situations, and provide informal support therapy to patients and families.

As a Medical Support Associate, you will be responsible for observing, collecting, and documenting patient information, reporting significant changes in a patient's condition to a registered nurse or physician, and providing care and treatments to patients as outlined in their plan of care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist physicians and other healthcare providers with routine examinations and procedures
  • Provide informal support therapy to patients and families
  • Observe, collect, and document patient information
  • Report significant changes in a patient's condition to a registered nurse or physician
  • Provide care and treatments to patients as outlined in their plan of care

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or General Education Development (GED)
  • Listed as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
