Medical Assistant II Certified

UNC Health Care is seeking a Medical Assistant II Certified to provide routine clinical and administrative support to providers and other healthcare team members in an outpatient clinic setting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong ability to work effectively in a team environment, provide exceptional patient care, and maintain accurate records.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform rooming and intake process, collecting and documenting patient data, including vital signs, height, weight, and medical history.
• Assist providers with treatments, examinations, and procedures, ensuring a safe and efficient patient experience.
• Collect specimens and perform phlebotomy, adhering to strict quality control standards.
• Administer medications under the direction of a provider, maintaining accurate records and ensuring patient safety.
• Perform tests, such as EKG and eye exams, under the direction of a provider, and review patient records to determine necessary health screenings.
• Maintain exam and treatment rooms, ensuring they are stocked with necessary supplies, equipment, and educational materials.
• Provide patients with after-visit instructions and educational materials, promoting health and wellness.
• Assist with patient registration, check-in, and appointment scheduling, ensuring seamless communication with providers and staff.
Requirements
• Medical Assistant certification by a recognized organization, such as the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).
• Basic Life Support Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
• At least one year of full-time experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified, with demonstrated possession of the competencies outlined in the Medical Assistant, Certified Advancement Worksheet.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment, providing exceptional patient care and maintaining accurate records.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage positively with patients and families.
• Ability to use a computer to document required information into the electronic medical record.
