Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Dietitian and Nutrition Specialist III to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our nutrition services team, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and evaluating nutrition programs and services, developing policies and procedures, and supervising nutrition staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, coordinate, and evaluate nutrition programs and services to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and departmental standards.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure high-quality nutrition services.
  • Supervise and train nutrition staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide excellent care.
  • Investigate complaints and deficiencies, and take corrective action as needed.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive care for our consumers.
  • Develop and implement education programs and materials to promote healthy eating habits and nutrition awareness.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to other healthcare team members as needed.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year university or college plus completion of a dietetic internship.
  • Knowledge of food and nutrition, food systems management, food science, and therapeutic nutrition.
  • Ability to counsel and train others in food and nutrition.
  • Ability to evaluate and communicate nutrition requirements.
  • Ability to develop and evaluate nutrition service plans and educational materials.
  • Knowledge of common drug/nutrient interactions which impact nutritional status.
  • Ability to interact effectively with consumers, families, and staff.
  • Ability to work with various teams and communicate effectively.
Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities. The successful candidate will be able to work independently with minimal supervision and to make sound judgments in a variety of situations.
