We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Dietitian and Nutrition Specialist III to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our nutrition services team, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and evaluating nutrition programs and services, developing policies and procedures, and supervising nutrition staff.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement nutrition care plans for medically fragile consumers with multiple chronic conditions.
- Evaluate nutritional status of consumers and develop, implement, and evaluate nutrition service plans.
- Provide medical nutrition therapy and counseling to consumers and staff.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop care plans for individuals at higher nutritional risk.
- Develop, monitor, and revise departmental policies and procedures, and maintain approved facility diet manuals.
- Supervise and train clinical nutrition employees, including developing job descriptions, administering performance evaluations, and ensuring assigned staff participate in mandatory training.
- Graduation from an accredited four-year university or college plus completion of a dietetic internship.
- Knowledge of food and nutrition, food systems management, food science, and therapeutic nutrition.
- Ability to counsel and train others in food and nutrition, and to evaluate and communicate nutrition requirements.
- Knowledge of common drug/nutrient interactions and ability to interact effectively with consumers, families, and staff.
- Ability to work with various teams and to perform basic and complex math calculations.
