Job Summary:

This is a 12-Month Adjunct AP position that is responsible for designing, scheduling, and ordering print publications; creating, editing, and scheduling electronic communications; maintaining the Hauenstein Centers website; managing the social media presence of the Hauenstein Center; and coordinating photography and videography for events. It is the goal of the media specialist to communicate the Hauenstein Centers mission and activities through high-quality, timely publications and messaging. The position requires a person with a variety of technology/media skills, creativity, strong organization skills, initiative, and the willingness to work as an integral member of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, edit, and produce the Hauenstein Centers print materials.
  • Work with staff members to create and proofread copy for the Hauenstein Centers promotional material.
  • Create and facilitate marketing campaigns through direct mail, mass email campaigns, social media marketing, web advertisements, and physical promotional items such as flyers or banner to promote attendance and/or awareness of Hauenstein Center events and initiatives.
  • Work with organizations inside and outside GVSU to outsource mailing, design, videography, photography, or other tasks when appropriate or necessary.
  • Monitor and maintain the Hauenstein Centers website function; research errors and resolve issues.
  • Ensure the Hauenstein Centers website content remains up to date, and ensure that photos and videos of past Hauenstein Center events are archived and readily available.
  • Update the layout or aesthetic of the Hauenstein Centers website as necessary.
  • Monitor and manage the Hauenstein Centers social media presence, including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and other platforms.
  • Coordinate and oversee the photography, videography, and A/V needs of Hauenstein Center events.
  • Edit and publish Hauenstein Center video and photo content on the Hauenstein Centers website.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the Hauenstein Centers mailing list.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere, and Audition.
  • Typing and spelling competency with grammar and proofreading skills.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully provide quality customer service.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work effectively during long periods of pressure and heavy workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully maintain satisfactory work performance and attendance records.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully maintain positive intercultural and interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to handle information in a confidential and sensitive manner.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Advertising & Public Relations, Marketing, Film & Video Production, Photography, Graphic Design, Computer Science, or related fields from a four year college or university.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Experience managing websites running on a content management system.
  • Videography and photography experience.
  • Marketing or professional social media experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear, succinct, grammatically correct correspondence.
