Job Summary:

The Laboratory Manager will oversee the technical activities, operations, planning, and policy development of the laboratory. This includes coordinating the activities of multiple, complex projects and staff to ensure quality control and compliance with regulations.

The candidate will be responsible for laboratory maintenance, clinical trial protocols, and the management of research specimens. Additionally, the candidate will conduct research experiments with limited supervision and provide technical support with some degree of independence for research projects under moderate supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Directs the technical activities, operations, planning, and policy development of a laboratory, including coordinating the activities of multiple, complex projects and staff to ensure quality control and compliance with regulations.
  • Identifies, proposes, and implements new or revised unit operational policies and procedures in alignment with strategic initiatives and objectives.
  • Serves as the unit liaison to internal and external stakeholder groups, providing information, making recommendations to leadership, and representing the interests of the unit.
  • Directs and supervises the day-to-day laboratory operations, quality control programs, and/or staff of a work unit to ensure compliance with organization and regulatory agency standards.
  • Monitors program budgets and expenditures.
  • May exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2 FTE or equivalent employees.
  • Develops and facilitates trainings regarding scientific experimentation, technical procedures, and equipment operations to various audiences.
  • Manages research workflow components, interfaces with CRCs, including IRB, collects, prepares, processes, and submits participant data and samples to appropriate entities, adhering to research protocols.
