About the Role
The HVAC Project Director will be responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and budgeting activities and financial reports concerning construction or maintenance projects. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of project management principles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with superintendents, foremen, journeymen, project managers, and department managers to plan, organize, and direct project activities.
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within company policy and contract specifications.
  • Represent the company in project meetings and attend strategy meetings.
  • Manage the requisition of supplies and materials to complete projects.
  • Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients.
  • Formulate reports on work progress, costs, and scheduling.
  • Collaborate with engineers to produce shop drawings from architectural drawings.
  • Communicate with customers and contractors during projects.
  • Manage projects to ensure established budgets are met and products are manufactured to customer specifications.
  • Collaborate with superintendents and other departments in acquiring tooling, materials, equipment, etc., to complete projects.
  • Collaborate with superintendents and safety personnel to develop project-specific safety plans.
  • Communicate the company's core value of safety and project-specific safety requirements, goals, and objectives.
  • Develop project schedules in collaboration with superintendents and in compliance with customer requirements, deadlines, and/or milestones.
  • Provide forecasts to customers and participate in forecast/budget meetings as required.
  • Develop project budgets based on estimates/proposals, including budget breakdowns by task and tracking units.
  • Run reports on projects, tracking costs and billing.
  • Prepare and distribute completed RFPs for subcontractors.
  • Review subcontractor proposals for completeness and scope coverage.
  • Furnish information to the Contract Administrator to complete subcontract agreements, including scope of work, pricing, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Collaborate with superintendents to review and approve subcontractor schedules.
  • Maintain open communication with customers and discuss potential future projects.
  • Negotiate and approve subcontract scope changes in accordance with all customer contract requirements.
  • Break down units and complete take-offs.
  • Manage divisional Work in Progress (WIP) statistics and report on WIP statistics at monthly financial meetings.
  • Perform accurate estimates.
  • Inform office staff when necessary to order bonds, permits, or certifications for projects.
  • Develop and distribute subcontractor RFPs based on scope of work and develop bid schedules.
  • Develop RFP deliverables for complete bid packages, including safety plans, execution plans, quality plans, environmental plans, and other plans as required by customers.
  • Participate in department meetings as requested.
  • Perform additional assignments as requested and maintain a teamwork attitude.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field preferred.
  • Minimum years of project management experience or related experience.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
  • Must have knowledge of appropriate codes and standards governing design and operating requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Must be able to handle confidential information.
  • Must be organized and able to prioritize tasks.

Salary Information
The estimated salary for this role is around $85,000-$110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
