Job Overview

The Healthcare Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for the thorough cleaning and disinfection of patient areas, support spaces, and other designated locations within the healthcare facility, adhering to established cleaning protocols and standards.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conducts cleaning of patient rooms, administrative offices, and waiting areas utilizing appropriate cleaning agents and disinfectants.
  • Ensures floors, equipment, and furnishings are sanitized in accordance with infection prevention policies.
  • Maintains cleanliness of interior glass, woodwork, restrooms, and fixtures.
  • Oversees the sanitation of dining areas and tables.
  • Performs scrubbing, mopping, and buffing of floors.
  • Restocks paper towels, soap, and toilet paper throughout the facility.
  • Handles waste disposal following standard procedures.
  • Maintains cleaning tools and supplies in line with prescribed guidelines.
  • Monitors inventory levels of cleaning supplies such as paper products and disinfectants.
  • Assists the Housekeeping Supervisor in ensuring daily tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Supports the training of new staff in effective cleaning and sanitization methods.
  • Adheres to the organization's ethical standards and customer service expectations.

Qualifications:

Education and Licensure:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
  • CPI certification must be obtained within 60 days of employment.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Basic reading and writing skills at the high school level.
  • A minimum of two years of housekeeping experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Familiarity with cleaning and disinfecting products.
  • Understanding of infection control practices.

Physical Requirements:

This position frequently requires:

  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and stand for extended periods.
  • Walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying objects.
  • Ability to feel sizes, shapes, temperatures, and textures through touch.
  • Effective oral communication, potentially at high volumes.
  • Minimum hearing standards.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, with frequent lifting of 30 pounds.
  • Minimum visual acuity standards, with or without correction.
  • While the worker may experience temperature variations, the role is primarily indoors and not significantly exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
