Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Centralized Sterile Processing Technician to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. As a Centralized Sterile Processing Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective processing of surgical instruments and supplies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instrument Processing: Assist in the preparation of surgical instruments and supplies for use in the operating room, ensuring that all items are properly cleaned, sterilized, and packaged.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of instrument inventory, including tracking and reporting on instrument usage and availability.
  • Communication: Collaborate with the operating room staff and central sterile processing team to ensure seamless communication and coordination of instrument needs.
  • Quality Control: Perform quality control checks on instruments and supplies to ensure they meet the highest standards of cleanliness and sterility.
  • Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to instrument availability, cleanliness, and sterility.
Requirements
  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent; associate's degree preferred.
  • Experience: 3 years of experience as a sterile processing technician; 5 years preferred.
  • Certifications: Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSP) through CBSPD or IAHCSMM.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment; knowledge of surgical instruments and cleaning and sterilization processes.
