Starting Pay:
$ Hourly ($40,112)
After 1st Year:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Sixty (60) semester hours of college;
- OR
- OR
- High school diploma or equivalent
- AND two (2) years' experience in the supervision of residents in an institutional facility.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must successfully complete physical restraint training on an annual basis. Must possess valid Michigan driver's license.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
- Responsible for a range of activities related to the oversight, care, and mentorship of at-risk youth residing at the Genesee County Juvenile Justice Center; manages resident admissions and discharges; operates under the guidance of a supervisor.
STATEMENT OF TASKS:
Oversees resident peer groups and/or individual youth to ensure the health, safety, and security of both residents and staff;
Engages in team discussions and collaborative decisions regarding client care;
Welcomes residents into the facility and familiarizes them with rules, regulations, and routines;
Implements disciplinary measures following established protocols;
Guides and assists residents in personal hygiene, attire, and grooming;
Accompanies residents to meals, educational activities, and other scheduled events punctually;
Maintains a secure environment through effective use of security systems;
Facilitates resident group meetings;
Supervises and participates in recreational activities for residents;
Monitors residents for signs of illness or emotional distress and reports as necessary;
When instructed, assists in searches for escapees/runaways from the facility and physically restrains residents to prevent escape;
Distributes supplies as needed;
Utilizes a computer or word processing system to prepare and maintain records and reports as required;
Administers medication and provides special care for ill residents as directed;
Performs basic clerical tasks;
Serves meals and snacks as necessary.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Understanding of residents' needs, behaviors, and characteristics;
Ability to counsel, instruct, and support youth effectively.
