About the Role

This is a hybrid position that encompasses both Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and Human Resources (HR). As an Environmental Health and Safety/People Manager, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment while supporting the growth and development of our employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Environmental Health and Safety (H&S):
    • Develop and implement policies and programs to mitigate organizational impact on the environment and protect employees from health and safety risks.
    • Establish guidelines for the collection and maintenance of employee training records, health/safety manuals, incident/accident reports, and other documentation.
    • Audit facilities and processes to identify weaknesses or risks and develop corrective actions.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, or local statutes or regulations, including OSHA.
    • Conduct new employee H&S orientation training and ongoing training as required.
    • Ensure all training and employee certification documentation is completed and maintained as required.
    • Conduct regular facility inspections to identify potential H&S issues.
    • Work with plant managers, supervisors, and employees to mitigate identified hazards.
    • Implement and administer all H&S programs and requirements, including GHS (haz-com) compliance, visitor and contractor safety programs, confined space entry, hot work, and LO/TO programs.
    • Conduct incident investigations and assist with reporting requirements.
  • People (HR):
    • Oversee the execution of human resources policies and programs, including recruitment and onboarding, training and career development, employee relations, and compensation and benefits planning.
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including EEO, FMLA, and FLSA.
    • Assist line managers in the application of HR programs to departmental operations.
    • Answer employee and candidate questions about HR policies and offerings.
    • Conduct new employee HR orientation training and onboarding, as well as ongoing and refresher training as required.
    • Ensure all HR training and certification documentation is completed and maintained as required.
    • Partner with plant managers to recruit, interview, test, and select site employees.
    • Perform all required activities to ensure successful and accurate employee time capture and payroll operations.
    • Timely and accurately create and maintain individual employee HR records and data.
    • Conduct initial HR incident investigations, report to the VP of HR, Safety and Environmental, and assist with resolution requirements.
Requirements
  • Comprehensive knowledge of EHS and HR policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Performs complex tasks and leads and directs the work of other employees.
  • Has full authority for personnel decisions and may have some impact on departmental budgeting, strategic planning, and procedural change.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Health and Safety preferred, or associate degree with 5+ years of related experience and/or training.
  • Bi-lingual English and Spanish fluency preferred.
