Position Overview: Under the guidance of the Director of Advanced Operations Technology, this role is accountable for overseeing all engineering and technological aspects related to Molding Manufacturing Processes. The Engineering Manager will lead the Engineering and Technical Innovation team, playing a vital role in advancing continuous improvement initiatives aimed at achieving operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all engineering functions within the Molding department, including Process and Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Develop and implement strategies for business excellence to cultivate a world-class manufacturing environment, focusing on:
    • Continuous Improvement Engineering
    • Process Engineering Excellence
    • Manufacturing Engineering
  • Act as a thought leader in fostering a culture of Continuous Improvement across the organization.
  • Employ Problem Solving, Lean, Six Sigma, and other Continuous Improvement methodologies to promote a culture of operational excellence.
  • Enhance capabilities for executing continuous improvement strategies within the Molding department to align with overall business objectives.
  • Collaborate with the New Product Development team to introduce innovative manufacturing processes and launch new products.
  • Assess and recommend critical projects aimed at enhancing Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost metrics within the department.
  • Champion a culture of quality through PFMEA, Control Plans, and other quality documentation to maintain process consistency and quality.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and problem-solving projects with cross-functional teams, implementing best practices derived from these experiences.
  • Translate performance improvements into financial metrics that align with corporate objectives.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination of Continuous Improvement initiatives across the organization, addressing varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Support production capacity enhancement projects through innovative manufacturing processes and equipment acquisitions.
  • Evaluate subordinate performance against job expectations and goals within designated timeframes.
  • Monitor compliance of team members with Safety, Quality, Delivery, and morale metrics, providing guidance as necessary.
  • Enhance team skills to boost departmental throughput and minimize scrap/rework through effective training and communication.
  • Visualize performance goals through daily management metrics displays and best practices.
  • Adhere to EMS policies and procedures, including relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Provide insights into the environmental aspects of operations.
  • Assist in training new employees on EMS procedures, work instructions, and standard practices.
  • Establish and track OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) at both departmental and process levels.
  • Provide leadership and direction aligned with company and business objectives.
  • Collaborate with plant personnel to identify and develop high-potential talent.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to achieve shared goals.
  • Support the Director of Advanced Operations Technology in meeting departmental objectives.
  • Make decisions regarding hiring, performance evaluations, employee training and development, and disciplinary actions.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Engineering Management experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience in Molding, preferably APG, though other molding types are acceptable.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; willingness to learn new software.
  • Understanding of departmental P&L.
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to inspire and lead teams effectively.
  • Experience in problem-solving using standard methodologies such as DMAIC or similar root-cause analysis techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in building high-performance teams and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Extensive experience in managing and driving innovation through manufacturing excellence initiatives.
  • Six Sigma certification (Black Belt or Green Belt).
