Columbia University is looking for a reliable and skilled Mechanic Trainee to join our facilities team at the Morningside campus. As an Assistant Mechanic, you will work under the supervision of an experienced mechanic to perform maintenance and repair functions.

This is a great opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in HVAC systems, with the potential to advance to Mechanic after completing a two-year training program. The estimated salary for this role is $35.26 per hour, based on industry standards and location.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend a comprehensive training program to learn mechanical skills
  • Assist in maintenance and repair functions, including repairs and maintenance of boilers
  • Deliver tools and materials to job sites
  • Clean up job sites
  • Perform tasks with minimal supervision as part of job training

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Must pass Mechanic Aptitude Test
  • Must be physically fit to perform duties
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating instructions
  • One year of experience in trades and/or technical discipline
