About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Equipment Repair Technician to join our team at Columbia University.

This is a full-time position that requires the ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a variety of equipment and systems. The successful candidate will have excellent problem-solving skills and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

The salary for this role is estimated to be between $32,900 and $41,120 per year, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, plumbing, and carpentry-related issues
  • Install and replace fixtures, including faucets, drains, and valves
  • Maintain and repair domestic water piping and measure, cut, thread, and fit pipe and tubing in the field
  • Braze/solder as needed and clear waste line stoppages using hand or power equipment
Requirements
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
  • Satisfactory passing of applicable tests
  • Three years of experience in trades and/or technical discipline or satisfactory completion of an approved training program
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, follow written, oral, diagrammatical, or scheduled forms
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move heavier objects with assisted devices
