Your Opportunity at GEI Consultants.

GEI Consultants is in search of a Lead Geotechnical Consultant to spearhead our Geotechnical Division in the Upper Midwest and enhance our technical and business development capabilities across the Central Region. This role involves collaborating with regional teams to bolster our expanding and profitable operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee a team of geotechnical specialists, including engineers and geologists.
  • Provide expert guidance and senior-level oversight, acting as the Engineer of Record.
  • Drive the growth of the practice while achieving significant revenue at established profit margins.
  • Lead proposal initiatives, maintain a strong presence in the industry through consistent client engagement, participate in professional organizations, and represent the company at industry conferences.
  • Support recruitment, training, and mentorship of personnel in the West Region offices.
  • Exemplify leadership qualities that reflect the company's culture and values throughout the organization.
  • Contribute to strategic planning efforts at the office, regional, and national levels.
  • Collaborate with senior geotechnical and engineering geology experts across the West and other senior consultants within the organization to fulfill client requirements.
  • Willingness to travel overnight, approximately 20 to 30% of the time.

Required Qualifications

  • Over 20 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering, with at least 10 years in a project management capacity.
  • A minimum of a Master’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Possession of a Michigan Professional Engineering license (PE) is mandatory; a Geotechnical license (GE) is preferred.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of geotechnical and earthquake engineering principles.
  • A diverse technical background, particularly in dam and levee engineering and risk-informed decision-making.
  • A proactive seller-doer with robust client relationships, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a proven history of generating new business and expanding a business segment.
  • Recognized for technical proficiency and the ability to develop client-focused, innovative, and practical solutions.
  • A collaborative team builder with exceptional interpersonal skills.
