Key Responsibilities

As a Mobile Mental Health Counselor, you will:

  • Conduct thorough mental health assessments for individuals in distress, utilizing independent judgment and strong communication skills to evaluate risk and clinical needs.
  • Collaborate closely with law enforcement on mental health-related incidents, facilitating the clinical assessment process and providing essential resources to individuals and families.
  • Deliver emergency psychotherapy, assess the need for hospitalization, and determine the appropriateness of involuntary treatment in accordance with legal standards.
  • Exhibit comprehensive knowledge of counseling principles, therapeutic theories, community resources, and relevant laws, ensuring accurate documentation and confidentiality in all interactions.
  • Provide a diverse range of crisis intervention and prevention services across various community settings, including jails and hospitals, which encompass crisis counseling, case management, and transportation.
  • Stay informed about community resources available for individuals and families in need.
  • Ensure follow-up care and coordination for individuals experiencing distress.
  • Prepare written reports for legal proceedings and may be required to testify in civil commitment cases.
