Job Overview

Position Summary:

At Treeline, Inc., the Automotive and Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the repair and upkeep of cars, heavy trucks, and trailers, servicing both our internal fleet and external clients. This role involves working on a variety of vehicles powered by both gasoline and diesel, as well as specialized equipment used on our main campus. A collaborative spirit and strong communication skills are essential in this dynamic work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote and maintain a safe workplace.
  • Participate in safety meetings and contribute to risk assessments.
  • Identify hazards and implement effective management strategies.
  • Ensure personal safety and be vigilant about the safety of colleagues.
  • Support fellow team members in maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Adhere to all OSHA safety regulations.
  • Analyze job orders, identify malfunctions, and strategize repair procedures.
  • Diagnose and repair or replace malfunctioning parts/components, including:
  • Electrical systems related to the equipment.
  • Hydraulic systems of machinery.
  • Steering mechanisms.
  • Brake systems.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with D.O.T. safety standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks.
  • Proactively identify potential issues and take preventive measures.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed accurately to minimize rework.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace and tools.
  • Service equipment, including greasing trucks and changing oils/fluids.
  • Weld components as necessary for repairs or fabrication.
  • Safely operate cutting torches and welding equipment.
  • Utilize shop tools, including power drills and air tools, safely and effectively.
  • Operate service or tow trucks as required.
  • Complete all documentation and record-keeping accurately and promptly.

Qualifications:

  • Comply with all safety regulations and utilize safety equipment effectively.
  • Ensure equipment safety before commencing any work tasks.
  • Follow instructions and guidance from supervisors and management.
  • Apply mechanical knowledge to diagnose and repair equipment issues.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with team members.
  • Perform tasks in various positions, including crawling and lying down, as needed.
  • Conduct repairs in accordance with US DOT regulations.
  • Read and interpret written instructions and repair manuals.
  • Possess basic computer skills or a willingness to learn.

Education and Experience:

  • Completion of a two-year college or technical program; or six months to one year of relevant experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and up to 50 lbs. frequently.
  • Capable of lifting objects from floor to shoulder height and moving tools and equipment.
  • Physical demands include reaching, handling, pulling, and feeling various objects.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily indoor work with some exposure to outdoor conditions.
  • Potential exposure to high noise levels and vibrations from machinery.
  • Awareness of physical hazards associated with mechanical work.
  • Utilization of various tools and equipment commonly found in this field.
