About the Position

Simpson University is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Business Professor of Data Science and Analytics to join our faculty team. As a key member of our Business Department, you will be responsible for teaching a range of courses, including Data Sciences & Artificial Intelligence (AI), Computer Information Systems (CIS), Business Information Systems (BIS), and various Business Management courses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach twelve (12) hours or three (4-unit) classes each semester.
  • Assist with curriculum and program development.
  • Advise, audit, and mentor students.
  • Hold a minimum of five (5) office hours per week for students.
  • Attend department meetings and professional development activities.
  • Ensure the timely completion of assessments, grades, and other reports.
Qualifications
  • A doctorate degree in Data Science, AI/CIS/BIS, Computer Science, Computer Information Technology, Data Analytics DBA, or related field is preferred; however, an appropriate master's degree will also be considered and/or commensurate experience.
  • Experience with multimedia instruction and related technology is a must.
  • Evidence of successful teaching experience in higher education preferred.
  • Successful experience with traditional in-person, hybrid, and online instructional modalities.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and coordination skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a spirit of enthusiasm and energy needed to interact with a diverse student population.
  • Experience with academic advising and degree auditing preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, and a knowledge of learning management platforms such as Canvas and other technologies.
Essential Functions

  • Support the overflow needs of other departments within the respective university area.
  • Perform other duties in accordance with this position as deemed necessary by the immediate supervisor.
