Job Summary

The State Water Resources Control Board is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Scientist to join our team in the Storm Water/Water Quality Certifications Unit. As an Environmental Scientist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the protection of California's waters for current and future generations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement water quality certifications programs to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Conduct field investigations and enforcement activities to identify and address water quality issues.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including state and federal agencies, local governments, and the public, to develop and implement effective water quality solutions.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to internal and external customers to ensure timely and effective responses to water quality-related inquiries.
  • Participate in meetings and conferences to stay up-to-date on the latest water quality trends and best practices.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in environmental science, water resources, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in water quality certifications, environmental consulting, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop effective solutions.
  • Valid California driver's license.
