Job Summary

The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Strategy, Planning, and Operations Associate. This role will play a critical part in supporting the Environment, Equity, and Justice team in our Washington, DC office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and oversee internal initiatives, including project planning, timeline management, and deliverable tracking.
  • Provide strategic support, including report creation, dashboard development, and presentation preparation.
  • Plan and execute meetings, including scheduling, agenda creation, and follow-up tasks.
  • Draft and edit documentation, materials, and communications related to budgeting, fundraising, grants, and vendor processes.
  • Support budgeting efforts, including project code tracking, spending monitoring, and coordination with team members.
  • Develop and implement internal communications plans and team processes, including file-sharing systems.
  • Support event planning and coordination, including scheduling, agenda planning, and materials preparation.
  • Integrate community-centered perspectives and equitable outcomes into strategy, work planning, and resource allocation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 1-3 years of directly related experience.
  • And/or equivalent education or experience.
Requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify obstacles and propose solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects involving multiple people and deliverables.
  • Ability to prioritize and efficiently execute tasks, follow institutional procedures, and work independently with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with a broad range of people on different projects.
  • Strict adherence to confidentiality requirements and discretion with sensitive information.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office, knowledge of accounting and finance systems, and relevant NRDC software and platforms.
  • Competence with and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Ability to occasionally travel to NRDC offices, approximately 10% annually.

We offer competitive salaries, benefits, and a supportive working environment. Salary is based on a nonprofit scale and is commensurate with skills and experience. Internal equity will be reviewed and considered to determine a final offer. For this position, the salary range is $67,300 to $74,200.
