Job Overview:

Drivers are responsible for executing daily delivery routes with multiple stops, which includes loading packages onto hand trucks and unloading products at each designated location. The successful candidate will operate within a cross-dock framework, retrieving a loaded vehicle from a nightly delivery and returning the empty vehicle to the designated lot upon completion of the route. There may be occasional requirements to assist with loading trucks, palletizing products, and performing additional tasks as directed by a Supervisor or Manager.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver exceptional customer service and manage relationships for key programs and projects.
  • Efficiently navigate routes, consistently meeting or surpassing designated timeframes.
  • Unload products from the trailer, either manually or with a hand cart, and place them in specified customer storage areas, which may involve transporting items down ramps, stairs, or docks in various weather conditions.
  • Regularly lift, push, or move products weighing between 1-75 pounds, occasionally up to 100 pounds; frequently reach up to 72 inches to stack and unstack pallets and hand carts; and consistently bend and twist while loading and unloading products.
  • Confirm delivery of items with customers and secure appropriate signatures. Report any discrepancies on invoices to management. Communicate all errors or returns promptly.
  • Notify management when a customer does not receive their complete order.
  • Address customer complaints in a professional manner.
  • Utilize company equipment responsibly, adhere to written safety protocols, and conduct pre-trip inspections. Fulfill pre-trip and post-trip responsibilities in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and Sysco policies.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Required Degrees/Certificates:
  • High School diploma or GED or equivalent.


Experience

  • Minimum one year of route delivery experience or relevant background operating a straight truck.
  • Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License – Class B (Class A preferred).
  • Ability to read and comprehend English.

Skills

  • Capable of operating a vehicle in diverse traffic and weather conditions.
  • Meet or exceed productivity standards set by the Company.

  • Effectively plan and organize work activities with minimal supervision.

OTHER INFORMATION

  • Frequent lifting of products up to 50 lbs. during shifts, with occasional lifting up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to climb on and off the truck.
