COMPENSATION INFORMATION:

The salary range provided is not indicative of Sysco's actual salary range but is merely algorithmic and provided for generalized comparison. Factors that may be used to determine rate of pay include specific skills, work location, work experience and other individualized factors.

Job Overview:

All drivers operate daily routes with multiple stops and are responsible for loading packages onto hand trucks and unloading products at each designated stop along the assigned route as directed by the Transportation Department Manager. The selected candidate will effectively work within a cross-dock model, picking up a loaded vehicle from a nightly delivery at the assigned loading dock and returning the empty vehicle back to the designated lot at the conclusion of the route. There may be occasional requirements to assist with loading trucks, palletizing products, and performing other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide technical support, customer relations, and personnel management for significant programs and projects.
  • Efficiently run routes, meeting or exceeding designated route times.
  • Unload products from trailers, either manually or using a hand cart, and place them in specified customer storage areas. This may involve transporting products down ramps, stairs, or docks, in various weather conditions.
  • Regularly lift, push, or move products weighing between 1-75 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 100 pounds; frequently reach up to 72 inches to stack and unstack pallets and hand carts; consistently bend and twist while loading and unloading products, and retrieving items from trailers.
  • Confirm delivery of items with customers and obtain appropriate signatures. Contact management for authorization when discrepancies arise on invoices. Communicate all errors and returns.
  • Report when a customer does not receive their complete order.
  • Address any customer complaints in a professional manner.
  • Properly handle company equipment, adhere to written driver safety protocols, and conduct pre-trip inspections. Perform pre-trip and post-trip responsibilities in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and Sysco policies and procedures.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Degrees/Certificates Minimum Required:
  • High School diploma or GED or equivalent.


Experience

  • One year of route delivery experience or relevant background driving a straight truck.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License – Class B (Class A preferred).
  • Must be able to read and comprehend English.

Skills

  • Operate vehicles in a variety of traffic and weather conditions.
  • Meet or exceed minimum productivity levels established by the Company.

  • Demonstrate strong customer relations and problem-solving skills.

OTHER INFORMATION

  • Frequent lifting of products up to 50 lbs. during the shift, with infrequent lifting up to 80 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb on and off the truck.
  • Frequent bending, squatting, pushing, and pulling required.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces.
