Job Overview:

Drivers are responsible for executing daily delivery routes with multiple stops, which necessitates loading products onto hand trucks and unloading them at designated locations. The role involves operating within a cross-dock framework, where drivers pick up a loaded vehicle from a nightly delivery and return the empty vehicle to the designated lot after completing their route. Occasionally, drivers may assist with loading trucks, palletizing products, and performing additional tasks as directed by supervisors or managers.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service and manage relationships effectively.
  • Efficiently execute routes, adhering to or surpassing scheduled delivery times.
  • Unload products from trailers, either manually or using hand carts, and place them in designated storage areas, which may involve navigating ramps, stairs, or docks in various weather conditions.
  • Regularly lift, push, or move products weighing between 1-75 pounds, occasionally up to 100 pounds; frequently reach up to 72 inches to stack and unstack pallets; consistently bend and twist while loading and unloading products.
  • Confirm delivery of items with customers and secure appropriate signatures. Report any discrepancies on invoices to management. Communicate all errors or returns promptly.
  • Notify management when a customer does not receive their complete order.
  • Address customer complaints with professionalism.
  • Utilize company equipment responsibly, adhere to safety protocols, and conduct pre-trip inspections. Fulfill pre-trip and post-trip responsibilities in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and Sysco policies.


Qualifications

Education

  • Minimum Required: High School diploma or GED.


Experience

  • One year of experience in route delivery or relevant experience driving a straight truck.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License – Class B (Class A preferred).
  • Ability to read and comprehend English.

Skills

  • Ability to operate a vehicle in various traffic and weather conditions.
  • Meet or exceed minimum productivity standards set by the company.
  • Achieve established error reduction goals.
  • Exhibit strong customer relations and problem-solving abilities.
