Located in Louisville, Kentucky, we specialize in assisting utilities and independent power producers with the sustainable management and recycling of ash byproducts from coal combustion in electricity generation. With over three decades of expertise, we design and implement effective solutions for ash pond management, landfill construction, fly ash sales, and structural fill projects. Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze proposals, plans, specifications, and related documents to assess labor, material, equipment, and time requirements, compiling and organizing numerical and descriptive data.
  • Gather, evaluate, and summarize data and trends to produce conceptual, schematic, and detailed cost estimates.
  • Oversee specific construction projects from the pre-construction phase through to project closeout, ensuring accountability throughout.
  • Manage multiple contractors and their schedules while maintaining clear communication with customers and contractors.
  • Collaborate with state engineers, utility environmental teams, and independent engineering firms.
  • Adhere to and enforce all relevant safety protocols and procedures, thoroughly understanding Charah Solutions' Standard Operating Procedures for construction management.
  • Lead the development of readiness reviews as required for projects.
  • Assist in creating engineering drawings and layouts.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or upper management.
  • Innovate and implement new procedures and approaches to problem-solving.
  • Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills with vendors, customers, and organizational leaders.
  • Maintain initiative to ensure workflow continuity.
  • Work effectively under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Foster interpersonal relationships that promote openness, honesty, and trust, both internally and externally.
  • Complete projects and reports accurately and promptly.
  • Safeguard company information with confidentiality.

Qualifications:

  • A four-year degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is required. EIT or the ability to obtain PE registration is preferred.
  • Experience in site/civil estimating for mass excavations, embankments, and material transport is preferred, with a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Outlook, as well as estimating software and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Project.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities are required.

Work Environment & Conditions:

  • Ability to utilize electronic communication devices such as computers and handheld radios.
  • This role requires a flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physical capabilities include climbing, maintaining balance, reaching, grasping, bending, and standing or sitting for extended periods.
  • Must possess natural or corrected hearing and vision.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds is necessary.
  • Exposure to loud noises and various atmospheric conditions may occur.
  • This position involves working in both internal and external environments.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and adapt to changing environments is essential.
  • Effective communication skills are required.
