About the Role

Charah Solutions, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Safety Compliance Specialist II to join our team. As a key member of our safety team, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment for our employees and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce health and safety guidelines, policies, and procedures within the workplace.
  • Investigate accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine causes and preventable measures.
  • Report or review findings from accident investigations and facilities inspections.
  • Provide weekly reports on activities and observations.
  • Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance.
  • Work with the Safety Manager to conduct or coordinate worker training in areas such as safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment.
  • Interview employers and employees to obtain information about work environments and workplace incidents.
  • Communicate safety policies with customers.
  • Act as safety resource contact for site managers on multiple projects/jobs.
Requirements
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A bachelor's degree in a safety-related program is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of work experience in safety and/or compliance functions is required.
  • Prior experience in ash management, waste, civil-type construction, or related environments is preferred.
  • OSHA 510 certification is required.
  • A familiarity with OSHA 1926 standards and requirements is required.
  • A working knowledge of heavy equipment and excavation safety is required.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is required.
Working Environment and Conditions
  • The ability to use electronic equipment such as a computer, cell phone, and handheld radio for communication with supervisors and coworkers is required.
  • This position requires a flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • The ability to climb, maintain body equilibrium, reach, grasp, bend, and walk/stand/sit for extended periods of time is required.
  • The ability to hear and see naturally or with correction is required.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds is required.
  • The position requires working in the internal and external environment.
  • The ability to work independently and as a team is required.
  • The ability to work under pressure with time constraints in a changing environment is required.
  • The ability to effectively communicate is required.
