As a key member of the AEG team, the Accounting Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the financial integrity of the Owensboro Convention Center & Sportscenter.

The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring, controlling, and auditing all financial transactions, as well as performing a full range of professional accounting duties involved in fiscal management, record keeping, reporting, and financial analysis.

This role will require the ability to work with all levels of management, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field, and 3-5 years of professional accounting experience, preferably including some supervisory experience.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Performing all general accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
  • Keying data into accounting software for A/P, A/R, and general journal entries.
  • Reviewing all contracts for client, events, subcontractors, food and beverage or concessionaires.
  • Processing and preparing account receivable invoices and other Show Management Invoices.
  • Serving as back-up for Night of Show settlements at the Sportscenter.
  • Reviewing Arena tenant settlements.
  • Managing Event Deposit process for Convention Center and Arena.
  • Verifying and posting entries to general ledger accounts; running trial balances.
  • Assisting with month end closing procedures and adjusting journal entries.
  • Preparing monthly financial statements for the Client and OVG Corporate, and other financial reports, including monthly statements, Annual Budget and Annual Report.
  • Analyzing financial performance and cost analyses for all departments; recommending appropriate actions/changes in order to meet business goals.
  • Preparing select event settlements and generating account transfers or check payments.
  • Performing analysis of accounting records; preparing event profitability statements.
  • Preparing and performing bank reconciliations.
  • Reconciling balance sheet accounts and select GL Accounts.
  • Supporting cash management and daily cash flow monitoring within the Finance department.
  • Directing internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls.
  • Auditing receipts and disbursements to ensure accuracy for public shows and resolving credit card charge backs.
  • Examining and verifying a variety of financial documents and reports.
  • Assisting Director of Finance with budget preparation, financial reporting, and analyses.
  • Applying Federal, State, and local laws and regulations pertaining to accounting and auditing work.
  • Directing the installation and maintenance of any new accounting, timekeeping, payroll, inventory, and other related procedures and controls.
  • Establishing system controls for new financial systems and developing procedures to improve existing systems.
  • Reviewing financial statements with management personnel.
  • Other miscellaneous projects and duties as assigned by Director of Finance.
